Our Ministries

There have been some exceptionally ministries begun at New Life the past few years for which we give thanks.

  • Monterrey, Mexico: After praying in 2004 that God would allow us to partner with a church in Mexico, we were made aware that some Hondurans, including Sergio Handel, had moved to Monterrey to plant a church. In 2005 we sent a small team to assist them and have continued to do so since. New Life also provides financial support to the Monterrey church. The church there continues to grow and be used of God.
  • The Core Campus Ministry: In 2004 we were praying that God would give us a way of reaching college students in our city. In 2005, Ann heard about our church from a friend and brought a few students from Mount Mercy College one Sunday morning. In 2006 Mark Larson, Corey Schneller, and Helena Mills started a meeting on the campus. In 2007 Dustin Hinton, Tony Cook, Casey Johnson, and Matt Heuther began leading the weekly meeting there, and started a worship band. In 2009 Ann went on part-time staff at New Life to focus on our college campus ministry programs. We have been blessed to see many young adults saved through this outreach. Visit the Core website.
  • Encouragement Team: Around 2005 Pastor Kurt began praying and studying toward the goal of providing a more powerful counseling ministry. Along the way, Shari Damaso and Jane Trobaugh joined him on the Encouragement Team. Together, they have adopted and developed some counseling approaches that have proven to bring miraculous change to people’s lives, as they are set free by the truth of Christ. We hope to continually increase the number of equipped Encouragement Team members in the future, as there seems to be no shortage of Christians who are emotionally wounded and in spiritual bondage to the enemy’s lies.
  • AWANA: In the fall of 2008 Brenda Jurgensmeier became “Commander Brenda” after preparing the ground work for our Wednesday night AWANA program. Many responded to the need for workers and today we have about 60 children attending weekly. Our hope is to continue to increase the number of lost children and families involved, so that the Gospel might be spread in our community.
