Places & Times
When we began looking for a permanent place to call home, we wanted to be in a growing neighborhood where we could serve those around us. God led us to north Marion, at the corner of 29th Avenue and Alburnett Road. We meet for Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Often we'll have groups of families that stay for dinner and afternoon activities. Visitors are always welcomed to stay for lunch. Periodically we'll have Sunday School classes for adults that meet prior to our worship time. Children from pre-school through fifth grade participate in their own age-appropriate classes, and are dismissed to their teachers about half-way through our Sunday worship.
During the week the ministry center is used for a wide variety of activities -- men's prayer meetings on Tuesday nights, Cub Scout packs, Wednesday night youth group, and Saturday men's and women's gatherings. Two nights a week, other area churches borrow our facilities for worship.
In 2007 we began The Core, a ministry outreach to Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. Weekly meetings are held at 7 p.m. at the College chapel and are open to all area college students. More information is available by emailing mtmercycore@newlifecr.com.
